Answers:
Nope - you can self certify for up to two weeks
yes think so, my boss does
IN MN its 3 days and a dr. note
yes if that is their policy, to give back to work interviews. it doesn't matter if you are off 1 day or 2 weeks, it is still classed as an absence.
sure. were you really sick
Definitely
no. Tell him to balls- unless, of course, you have been off sick on lots of occasions
I'm a manager and our company does return to work forms to fill out and I only meet with someone if it's more than three days, saying that though if I didn't belive someone was truly sick or they'd had a lot of 1 day absences I would speak with them.people aren't usually sick for just one day and it always raises questions.
Yes.
no its 3 days self cert.do you take a lot of time off because if you do then i think they are well within their rights.if not tell them to**** off.
thats strange...sounds roughto me...i cant stand those kind of bosses
yes - in some places they di that as a matter of course.
I can't believe what I'm hearing that your companies/employers have the audacity to do this. I don't think they can. If I had to go in for an interview after a sick day, i'd point out all i do for them and ask for a raise every time. That'll teach them to interview me for the same job. :)
Furthermore, they should toe the line on that one very carefully because it is dangerous and often illegal for an employer to be delving that far into a person's health/personal life.
What kills me is how many of you think this is ok. Have you no shame for employee rights to personal life? Gen Y and it's constant work forget about health and no time for family is setting a dangerous work bar for the rest of us. You're just going to get us all killed and working till we're 90. Thanks a lot.
