I'd agree with the chick above taht you're just using this for marketing, expect for the fact you didn't actually include your website address or topic in your question. :)
Honestly, that would have been a very nice Web 2.0, guerilla marketing way to do it, so go you.
Ok, pinpoint what is it about, what does your website really have to offer the world, who is your target audience. Then, look for ways to reach that target audience. If your website is music based, then look for music based media. Another Web 2.0 way to drum up traiffic is to create YouTube and Myspace pages as well that will link to your site, where you can invite people to be your friends and have interaction that will help with feedback. You can also send out an announcement to reporters at pubs that cover websites and new technologies, again all depending on what you are offering. Without more knowledge of your product or website, I can't do any more for ya. For websites, you can work with other websites that cater to your audience and see if they're willing to do a link swap with you, where you reference their website on yours and vice versa.
When in doubt, if you have the cash, hire a PR person or freelancer ;-)
