Question:
I'm the events & marketing manager of a bar in central London and I've been told that a great promotion is waiting for me just around the corner, but I need to do one last stunt to prove my H.O. that I've got what it takes.
Any local markting ideas to promote our Thursday tribute nights?
We've tried everything I can think of sofar (flyering, myspace, e-mail out...)
Answers:
I know this might not be answering your question, but I've always found that reality TV show - "The Apprentice" a good source of ideas. They do a lot of this kind of promo stuff and it might be good to spend some nites to run through some previous episodes.
just a thought.
Who's the tribute to? Go hire a fancy dress costume of that person, stand outside the nearest student bar with your flyers and voila!
Or, pin point your marketing at a particular trade - say, hair salons. Visit every salon you can before Thursday in your locality with your flyers - and maybe a drinks voucher.
Or, 'Hijack' a tube station with your advertising, costume, bad singing etc... at 5pm.
Or, come thursday night, do the front of the bar, outside, up as though its the reception for the oscars - red carpet, rope railing, get some staff or friends to wait outside with flashing cameras and welcome the tribute band as though they mega famous - the paparazzi will swoop, and so will the punters.
You may have done this already but personally I believe that this could get you that promtion. If the bar you work for has a website then great and if they don't create one. I am not sure what the main search engine in Britain is, but whatever it is try to advertise it online. That way when people type in key words such as bars, tribute nights, dance clubs, your bar will pop up. Best of Luck
