Ebay private sales?

Question:
I am looking to set up an ebay sale but I want it so that only one user of my chioce can buy the item or even see the sale. I want to go through ebay and paypal so that we are protected if anything happens? how can i do this?

Answers:
Would you like your buyers' identities to remain anonymous? When you create a private listing, a buyer's User ID will not appear in the listing or in the listing's bid history..or you could do a private listing..

When to Use a Private Listing: While there are some cases where private listings are appropriate, such as the sale of high-priced ticket items or approved pharmaceutical products, you should only make your listing private for a specific reason.

To create a private listing, select the “Private listing” check box in the “How you’re selling” section of the Sell Your Item form.

2nd Link: By selecting certain buyer requirements, you can manage the types of buyers you'd like to have bid on or buy your items. While this may reduce your exposure to buyers who might make transactions difficult or more expensive, or with a history of Unpaid Item strikes, it will also reduce the overall number of potential buyers you'll have for your items. For this reason, you should think carefully before using buyer requirements to block buyers.

But I agree with the first poster---why limit yourself to just one bidder--having many people bid will only improve the final price.

All the best on eBay!
There isn't a way for you to prescreen buyers before they can bid on your auctions. For high profile items that have received a lot of publicity, eBay had done some things, but you can't start an auction to do this.

The closest you can get is to contact anyone who bids on your auction. If you are not satisfied with them, you can cancel their bids and block them from bidding again.

You can also create buyer requirements rules before they can bid on your auctions. These rules are limited to blocking users with negative feedback or have unpaid payment strikes. You can't block users with a feedback score of 0.

See http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/manage_b... for more information about managing bidders.

The eBay community is on the whole very good. You should just list your item normally and let the highest bidder win. Otherwise you will be limiting your bids.

Good Luck,
Bill
