Question:
I took career aptitude tests, they arent that useful so I want to see what you guys think.
I love art and fashion, im quite good in math, biology, chemistry and languages.
I love to travel and meet new people.
I HATE physics, so no careers do to with physics.
I really want to work in the field of fashion, but what in fashion?!
So please tell me what career you think would be best for me and what courses i would have to take.
Answers:
the till at mac donalds, then you get to do maths, speak languages, racial chemistry and biological fun in the evenings.
Everything mentioned so far has nothing to do with fashion so you are on your own there but... perhaps alternate with Burger King so you get to change uniforms.
i heard that wal-mart is hiring.
If you like chemistry and fashion, you might try doing textile design. Understanding chemistry can be a big help when it comes to using dye for the fabrics. Many fashion colleges offer degrees in textile design, such as RISD and FIT.
(and totally agree with you on the physics thing, that subject really sucks)
Carla---The tests if taken honestly that you do not know where you fit in the job market.--is a wonderful tool... I took the battery of 6 tests and that gave me a start in life in my second career... Just because the job selections did not come out the way you wanted...The tests came out the way 10,000 other professionals answered the same questions as you.. I just wish I knew what the top 6 occupations are on the test...That would tell me more than what you don't want to do and what you want to do... You know what you want to do--just get started by education.
How about a buyer for a large Department store or a High-End Womens Clothing store?
An ex-High-school girl friend selected this as a career, and did this for 12 years, before she decided to change careers, and become a Lawyer. She really loved it, she hooked up with a large high end womens salon / clothing / shoe & accessorie store, and became their head buyer over time.
She was pulling down over $ 250,000.00 @ year at the top of her career, wore whatever she chose for free, stayed at spas - more so that hotels wherever she went , was often at fashion shows, spent a lot of time in Paris, Milan, New York, and L.A., and got to know not only a lot of the fashion industry top models, but a lot of celebrities as well, Perks - invites to the Academey Awards, Emmys, and similar Award shows, Grand Openings, - parties - etc.
She said the pace was frenetic, and the work was exciting - but exhausting, and after 12 years she was well off, but bushed, and wanted somethign "quiet", - so she chose the law. (???). She went to school in Denver for the Fashion Buyers training.
