I find that half of the people aren't any good at their job so yes they are overpaid.
But nobody would ever admit to it of course. Till it all collapses onto us then we blew it.
If the CEO in question is Bill Gates or Steve Jobs or someone like that who started a business from nothing, then no, I don't think it's unfair. But if you're talking about CEOs at the Big Three who get $2 million bonuses when their division posted a loss (they still got the bonus because the loss wasn't as bad as they anticipated) then yes, it is VERY unfair. In the same vein, if you're talking about a CEO at Exxon/Mobil who gets paid $70 million a year just to run a company that has been around for decades, then yes, it is again VERY unfair.
NO. Until they can point to tangible proof that they have a positive effect on the productivity of a company they should be paid at 2 times the highest hourly rate. When they can show an increase in the bottom line that is directly related to their efforts, ideas and decisions then they are in titled to a prorated bonus.
No, I am not overpaid. And heck no it isn't fair that CEO's make that much money. If our CEO wanted to...he could have given every employee at our company $1,000 and still walked home with $75,000,000 last year.
