A graduate in chemical engineering from IIT-Delhi,Jaspal Singh joined IndianOil in 1989 and has handled a variety of assignments in refinery operations, technical services and projects.
Singh played a key role in modernising IndianOil's refineries. His main focus was on dovetailing low-cost brownfield expansion to improve output and energy consumption.
As executive director, Singh brought in major improvisation in the Panipat refinery's operations. These initiatives include debottlenecking of existing units to enhance their capacities, expansion of the refinery by 6MMTPA and implementation of IndianOil's first major petrochemical complex at Panipat.
Singh also played a pivotal role in securing exemption of entry tax on crude oil for the refinery expansion, leading to a saving of Rs 250 crore per year paving the way for implementation of the project.
Widely travelled in India and abroad, Singh has participated and chaired several international conferences, representing IndianOiI. Singh's clarity of vision and strategy and his understanding of the intricacies of domestic and global refining industry was of great advantage to IndianOil.
