Have you decided why you want a credit card? I am 24. I have never had a credit card. I find my Visa bankcard to be just fine. If you do decide you want a credit card, you should first disregard any that charge an annual fee. Then you should select the one with the lowest fixed APR. However, you should always always pay off the entire balance every month on time, so in practice, the fixed APR should not be an issue for you. This is a just in case concern. After you have selected a card based on these criteria, you may consider perks, such as points or money back. Only if all else is equal between no annual fee and low fixed APR, should you look at perks. Beware of perks, as they can induce you to spend more than you would normally to acquire enough points to acquire an item or service, which you could have purchased for far less on your own. Card perks should be an extra, not a deciding factor, in your selection. You can look at bankrate.com, second link below, to search for a credit card based on a number of criteria.
Credit card offers in the mail are also prime targets for identify thieves. I strongly advise that you opt-out of pre-approved credit card offers, see third link below.
A student one with low interest or none at all. buy a car or go get furniture. credit cards are trouble.
freakin' don't until you get a decent job and realize that the damn things ain't free.
Get a debit card from your bank, and use it as a credit card also. Always keep a good amount in your account, that should help build credit, and when the credit card companies see that, you will have a better chance of getting a card from them. Good luck, and it's great that you're starting early, just be smart about it!
Stay away from ANY credit cards!. if you want to sleep well.
Get a bank DEBIT card or pay cash.
you should get a credit card - even if it's just to establish credit - but be smart and pay it off. Best buy and Capital one are the easiest to get for limited credit.
