My online amount is deducted 3 times. Is it true we cannot get local bank to stop the payment?

Question:

Banks do not originate transactions, so they cannot stop them from happening. You need to contact the company that is charging you each month and get them to stop...or close the account and open a new one.

This is not to say you cannot dispute the charges that are coming out. You only have 30 days to dispute so you likely cannot dispute more than one of the 3 charges, but one is better than none. What happens is you dispute the charge and the bank gives you a temporary credit to your account. The send the dispute to the company who is charging you and that company has 60 days to either reply with proof you authorized the transaction or refund the money. If the submit proof to your bank that the transaction was valid then your bank will charge your account again for the disputed amount (since they did not get your money back and the proof was valid).

If you do not have the name and address or phone number for the company that is charging you then your bank should be able to look in their records and find it (sometimes not always, it depends on the information that was sent with the transaction.
U have to contact your bank immediately, the sooner you notifty them the better your chances at fixing it.
Your bank can place a stop payment on a check, but they can not stop an online automatic deduction transaction from happening. I am sure that with our technology there is a way that banks could offer this, however for whatever reason they do not. You will need to contact the company withdrawing the money and/or file a dispute with your bank once the money is withdrawn.
Take your payment to your bank and sit down with someone and explain what happened.
The advantage of using a credit card vs a debit card is it is much easier to stop payment by contacting Visa than giving them direct access to your bank account (debit card)
