Question:
I know raising your credit score takes time but can anyone give me some advice other than pay on time (already know this tip) on how to do so? My score is in the 400s. Please help.
Answers:
Just the other day, I had a discussion with my Dad [86 years young &&&& STILL working almost every day] about a totally different subject. However, one of the things I mentioned applies to your question. It's this:
Its one thing to learn what you have to do to accomplish something, but its quite another to learn it THEN do it!
Suggestion: Pay a visit to your bank or credit union. You don't have a savings or checking account anywhere? Open one.
Ask the manager, or one of the wonderful folks working at a desk there, what the bank or lending institution takes into consideration when considering a loan to an individual.
THEN begin doing it.
You should begin educating yourself. Two very inexpensive books you should invest in:
1] "The Richest Man in Babylon" by George S. Classon
2] "The Magic of Believing" by Claude M. Bristol
You don't have to invest in both of them at the same time. Once you buy one or both of them, they are yours. Its perfectly great when a person buys one. Reads it. Marks the devil out of it. Make notes. THEN adapt and follow the principles each provides.
THE ONLY thing you should do is READ ONLY 5 PAGES PER DAY. Make notes. Adapt those principles to the lifestyle you see and picture in your mind. DON‘T be discouraged or disappointed. DON‘T let people tell you it’s a bunch of ****. .DON’T get discouraged and give up. THIS IS ALL ABOUT YOU AND FOR YOU, isn‘t it?
Begin striving for the wonderful things this wonderful world of ours has to offer and are there for the asking - after you prove to the world you worked for them, you earned them and they are yours!!
I wish you well.

My credit is also in that area because of my ex wife not making mortage payment in my name. I cant get any credit cards so its hard to rebuild credit if you cant get any. However i was just financed on a $13,000 used car so any credit you do get pay ontime, and it normally takes 6months of good payment history to show up on your report.
There are no "loopholes" or laws that credit repair
companies can use to get correct information off your
credit report.
No credit repair company can do anything you can't do
for yourself. It is impossible for a third party to
make changes in your file if the facts have been
correctly reported.
Just follow the basics steps below to help restore your
credit.
First, make sure all the information on your credit
report is accurate.
Second, try to pay off all or any accounts that are
currently in collections or make payment arrangements
with the creditor to pay off the balance monthly.
Third, any credit card that is over 50% of the
available credit line should be paid down to under half
of your total credit line. Your credit score is lowered
when your available balance is over 50% of your total
credit line.
Finally, if you have bad or no credit and have no
credit cards try to obtain two credit cards and make
sure all of your monthly payments are made on time.
This will help increase your credit score. If you
cannot be approved for a unsecured credit card, obtain
a secured credit card.
Repairing your credit and improving your credit score
is a slow process that takes time. Just be patient and
follow these steps and you should be on the road to
better credit!
