I'm not sure if you mean that you must verify it with your credit card company?
I know that I've had problems with my credit card on a couple of occasions, where I've left all my christmas shopping till the last minute, and gone on a shopping spree! After using the card a specific number of times, a security feature kicks in where the card will not be authorised and you have to talk to the company to authorise each transaction until the feature resets at midnight!
On another occasion, when I knew I'd be using the card a lot, I rang the company beforehand, to see if I could get this feature switched off for the day, but they said it was inbuilt and couldn't be altered.
I think you're allowed either 12 or 15 transactions before the security thing kicks in. I should mention my card would have had credit balances on these occasions - I use my credit card like a debit card - so it has nothing to do with your limit or the amount spent, just the number of transactions.
If you use your card more often than usual or the average person it may prompt them to have you call them to see what the problem is to make sure it hasnt been stolen or being used in a fraudulant manner. Its a great tool not only for your protection but theirs.
Fraud departments are a growing part of today's creditors. If anything out of your ordinary spending pattern shows up on the transaction report, it is kicked over to the fraud department for verification. These calls may seem kind of shady in themselves...they are quite often not in the banking office and they disclose very little information, but conversely, you are not required to offer much information either. If anyone does ever call requesting a SS#, address, account number or the 3 digit code on the signature line of your card, hang up and call your card's customer service dept.
The small amount of inconvenience is worth it in light of the huge inconvenience of having your card used fraudulently.
