Question:
How long should we wait to contact any companies to tell them to please post it on our credit report that we filed on them?
Answers:
They should update your credit report automatically as soon as they get the notice from the court that you have included them in the bankruptcy. However, some will not for one reason or another.
To catch the ones that were not updated you should probably check your report about 45-60 days after the bankruptcy was discharged. I would not do it before your bankruptcy was actually discharged, just in case you have some problems with the bankruptcy. However, if you want you can do it before 45 days. But by the time you dispute it they may already be in the process of updating it anyways. If it is still on there after 60 days, it is a good chance they won't update it unless you dispute it.

OC1999 is correct.
You should not have to call anyone. Once you file bankruptcy you are required by law to send each creditor a notice. When they get that notice they will update their report. Most companies do not update reports everyday. So wait a few weeks.
If you are just wondering what your credit report looks like after bankruptcy, I would wait 1-2 weeks after your discharge hearing
right away - send all 3 bureaus your bk scheduals (list of creditors) so they will update all the accounts included in bankruptcy with zero balance.
