Actually this would make good business sense. People smoke, people buy insurance, people smoke more than buy the high priced insurance that covers cancer and other long term diseases that smoking causes. I imagine insurance companies have their money in many stocks and cigarette companies may be part of the mix. It is called business. The decisions made by businesses are made with profit in mind. If money is in the stock market it is there because it is making more money.
