Guitar center salespeople?

Question:
do they operate on a commision based pay scale? because ive noticed every time i go in there its hard to look around because so many people walk up to me and try to get me to buy something. its almost impossible to even look at anyhting without being hassled. just wondering if they worked by commissions. thanks.

Answers:
Yes, of course guitar center is commission based. Thats the nature of the beast with superstores like they obviously are. They will always try to sell you something ON TOP OF the $2000 sale you just gave them. Ive been dealing with them for 10 years and found they are a good place to test equipment, not buy it. They will always try to sell the most beat up piece of equipment they have in storage, too. About 7 years ago they had a falling out with Gibson and avoided selling them altogether. I bought my first Les Paul back in these days for $700. Currently, a Les Paul Studio will go for more than double that because everyone is trying to get their hands on a piece of your sale. Think of them as a low-end used car lot.
