Question:
Does anybody know what charities in the Philadelphia area accept furniture donations? I'm looking for a charity that would be able to pick up the furniture. Tax-deductible is a plus, as is a charity that would be able to pick up the furniture w/ relatively short notice.
Thanks so much to anybody w/ info!

Try Purple Heart.
Another way to get rid (but it's not tax-deductible) is on free-cycle. Somebody will want it. Here's the link of where the various ones in Pennsylvania are and the links to join.

You could also call a crisis pregnancy center and they might need the furniture for a new single parent and could make arrangements to pick it up.
I don't know if they're near you but Teen Challenge is in Philly as well. To donate furniture call John at 215 438 7399. I don't know if they pick up or not but it's worth a try. If you've never heard of Teen Challenge, it's a Christian organization that helps drug and alcohol addicted teens and young adults to stay on track, off the streets, and find life in Jesus instead of addictions. They are not-for-profit so the donation would be tax deductible.
Hope that helps!

Also, check with your local homeless shelter. They often take the stuff and sell it cheap to bring in funds.
