in most places sales tax will be less than 10percent so if you are in a store and you need to know if you have enough to cover the tax just move the decimal in the price over one spot to the left and there is your sales tax.

E.g. 7.00dollar item = about .70cents salestax so your total will be just under 7.00 + .70 = 7.70dollars

take $7.00 x 0.08=$0.56
then add that to $7.00 and you get $7.56
