Car got totaled before I could pay sales tax and get it registered?

Question:
car got totaled before I could pay sales tax and now I have a tax affidavit to pay the taxes on a new car. I had the car for a year without paying the taxes or registering it. I know that is wrong but was going to take care of it. Now what happens when I take the affidavit down to register the new car>

Answers:
Too bad, so sad. that's what the government will say. You owe them money, it doesn't matter if the car is totalled, that's your problem. their problem is you owe them money, you might also owe them fines, penalties and/or interest for not doing it a year ago when you should have.

You dug your own grave now lay in it, you made your bed now sleep in it, you did the crime now do the time.
