Question:
I have paid a few hundred pounds in bank charges over the past 5 years and was thinking about claiming them back but my bank account recently changed from the woolwich to Barclays, can i still claim?is it worth it?
Answers:
Yes, you can still claim, and yes it would be worth doing if you have hundreds of pounds worth of charges!
There are two routes that you can go down, using the ombudsman or going through the court system. The ombudsman is free, but you can't claim back interest, whereas with the courts you can claim interest back at the statutory rate of 8%. You do have to pay court fees, but this will only be around £80 for the amount your claiming, and you get these back when you win your claim.
